This weekend’s featured artist is Sonya Derman, whose exhibition Wet Blanket opens Friday, October 16, at Essex Flowers. Working with hand-embroidered, painted, and quilted textiles, Derman transforms words and phrases into playful, enigmatic compositions. Drawing on the familiar textures of garage sales, hand-me-downs, and traditional craft, her work finds new meaning in everyday language and handmade objects. Wet Blanket is on view through November 15, with an opening reception Friday from 6–8 PM.
